MedUni Vienna becomes WAO Center of Excellence

Allergy research recognised by the World Allergy Organization

center-of-excellenceMedUni Vienna has been chosen by the Excellence Selection Committee of the World Allergy Organization (WAO) to be one of its WAO Centers of Excellence.

MedUni Vienna is now one of only 30 WAO Centers of Excellence (provisionally until 2020).
The purpose of the WAO Centers of Excellence is to intensify and accelerate multidisciplinary scientific and clinical innovation, education and advocacy worldwide in the field of allergy, asthma and clinical immunology.

 

Cutting-edge research at MedUni Vienna
MedUni Vienna is currently ranked number 7 worldwide in the field of allergy research by the prestigious CWUR world ranking (cwur.org/2017/subjects.php#Allergy). "The selection of MedUni Vienna as a WAO Center of Excellence recognises the fact that MedUni Vienna has ranked among the global front- runners in allergy research for many years," says Rudolf Valenta, spokesperson for MedUni Vienna's Allergy Research Program funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF; www.fwf.ac.at). Rudolf Valenta from the Institute of Pathophysiology and Allergy Research is Director of the new WAO Center of Excellence at MedUni Vienna and program coordinator is Anna Guentcheva. It comprises an allergy research program (www.allergy-research-program.at), an international PhD program (www.phd-mcca.at) and coordinates an international post-graduate teaching network (www.inunimai.org).
Barbara Bohle, Head of the Institute of Pathophysiology and Allergy Research and President of the Austrian Society for Allergology and Immunology is responsible for the advocacy mission. The area of teaching is coordinated by Winfried Pickl and that of post-graduate teaching by Victoria Garib.

The World Allergy Organization (WAO) (www.worldallergy.org) is an international umbrella organisation that currently includes 97 regional and national and regional allergology and immunology societies.

MedUni Wien wird WAO Center of Excellence

Anerkennung der Allergieforschung durch die World Allergy Organisation

Das Excellence Selection Committee der World Allergy Organisation (WAO) hat die MedUni Wien zu einem ihrer WAO Centers of Excellence erklärt.

Die MedUni Wien ist nun eines von nur 30 WAO Centers of Excellence (vorläufig bis 2020).
Die Aufgabe der WAO Centers of Excellence ist die Intensivierung und Beschleunigung multidisziplinärer wissenschaftlicher und klinischer Forschung, Ausbildung und Interessensvertretung auf internationaler Ebene auf dem Gebiet der Allergien, Asthma und klinischen Immunologie.

Spitzenforschung an der MedUni Wien
Im renommierten weltweiten CWUR-Ranking (cwur.org/2017/subjects.php#Allergy) rangiert die MedUni Wien im Bereich Allergieforschung aktuell auf Platz sieben. „Mit der Auswahl der MedUni Wien als WAO Center of Excellence wird anerkannt dass die MedUni Wien seit vielen Jahren im internationalen Spitzenfeld der Allergieforschung rangiert“, sagt Rudolf Valenta, der Sprecher des vom Fonds zur Förderung der wissenschaftlichen Forschung (FWF; www.fwf.ac.at) geförderten Allergieforschungsprogramms an der MedUni Wien. Rudolf Valenta vom Institut für Pathophysiologie und Allergieforschung leitet das neue WAO Center of Excellence an der MedUni Wien, Programmkoordinatorin ist Anna Guentcheva. Es umfasst ein Allergieforschungsprogramm (www.allergy-research-program.at), ein internationales PhD-Programm (www.phd-mcca.at) und koordiniert ein internationals Postgraduate Teaching Network (www.inunimai.org).
